ISLAMABAD: The government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan has declared the 16th and 17th of July, 2024, as Public Holidays on the occasions of Youm-e-Ashura (10th Muharram/1446 AH). This decision, which sought to ease the mourning of this worship by the Muslims, shows the government’s consideration of religious celebration and safety during such occasions.
The event of Ashura is considered sacred to Muslims across the global community and commemorated with the mourning spirit as it signifies the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad.
