Islamabad: The top brass of the opposition parties on Sunday assembled at Zardari House in Islamabad to devise mutual strategy against coalition government led by cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan.

The huddle was attended by Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) vice-president Maryam Nawaz, former premier Shahid Khaqab Abbasi, and Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz.

Leaders from Jamaat-e-Islami, Awami National Party (ANP) and other parties also attended the huddle.

It has been learned that opposition parties have rejected unjustified hike in prices of the petroleum products. The leaders of the opposition have also termed proceedings of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) as revenge proceedings.

Reports suggested that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had arranged Iftar dinner to bring opposition leaders on the same page against the incumbent government and mulling over finding ways to end the ongoing economic crisis.

It has been also learned that opposition parties were planning joint protest against the government soon after Eidul Fitar.

Earlier today, Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan deplored that ongoing economic crisis was used by the opposition parties to blackmail the government.

“Bilawal and Maryam did not get tired of blaming each other of corruption charges and now, both are uniting over Iftar”, Prime Minister affirmed.

“Corrupt political mafia wants to blackmail on the basis of current economic crisis. I will never be unfaithful to the people of Pakistan”.
