Karachi : The Institute of Business Management (IoBM) organized the HEC Interuniversity Zone-M Badminton Boys Championship 2023-24, which took place from December 19 to December 21, 2023. The distinguished Chief Guest for the closing ceremony was Mr. Talib Karim, President of IoBM. The Guest of Honor was Ms. Palwasha Bashir, a seven-time former national champion in Women’s singles Badminton. She is also an IoBM alumna. As many as 13 teams from various universities participated in this Championship that was organized by the Sports and Student Affairs Department at IoBM under the aegis of the Higher Education Commission (HEC). IoBM won the Doubles Event against NED by 2-1. In the Singles event, IoBM secured the third place while the first and second place were secured by DHA Suffa University and NED respectively.
While addressing the gathering, Mr. Talib Karim said that Pakistan possesses the potential to excel in sports. “Universities should offer students with opportunities and access to coaches to develop their athletic abilities,” he added. He also appreciated HEC’s contributions to the promotion of sports in Pakistan. Ms. Palwasha Bashir extended her congratulations to IoBM on its victory and expressed optimism that the Badminton team, along with other sports teams from the institution, will continue their successful journey in the future.
