QUETTA / KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement Quetta is successfully conducting anti-
smuggling operations in line with the directives of the Federal Government. The performance in the
last 45-days resulted in the seizure of smuggled goods worth 2.7 billion in 278 successful operations.
This extensive exercise involved seizures of a variety of smuggled items, including drugs, Iranian
diesel, chalia, gutka, dry milk, non-customs paid vehicles, cosmetics, plastic grains, electronics and
outward smuggling of essential items like sugar, fertilizer etc. These seizures were carried out in at
various checkpoints, godowns, and other locations.

Under the vigilant supervision of Collector Mohammad Ismail and the dedicated guidance of Additional
Collector Omar Shafique, as well as the relentless efforts of field enforcement units and mobile
squads led by Deputy Collectors (DCs) and Assistant Collectors (ACs), these operations were
executed successfully.

Chief Collector of Customs Enforcement Quetta, Abdul Qadir Memon, reaffirmed his unwavering
commitment to continue the fight against smuggling. He further told that this resolute action is being
taken in line with the special directives of Member Customs Operations Zeba Hai Azhar and future
operations will leverage modern technology and foster collaboration with various law enforcement
agencies.

In a significant development, a modern control room at Collectorate of Customs Enforcement Quetta
has been recently established to monitor the movement of vehicles along different routes by the
representatives from the Frontier Corps (FC), Intelligence Bureau (IB), Police and other law
enforcement agencies, Further the Collectorate has fully implemented the newly developed Strack
(online verification system) by FBR for monitoring the movement of essential commodities and
movement of sugar in the province of Balochistan is being constantly monitored on real time basis.
This step alone will keep a complete track of movement of essential commodities and will become an
effective tool against smuggling and hoarding of essential commodities.

Collector Mohammad Ismail highlighted that these anti-smuggling efforts have not only resulted in the
seizure of smuggled goods in huge quantities but also have contributed to bolstering economic
stability within the country. The actions taken have notably led to a decrease in the value of the dollar
and a reduction in the prices of essential commodities, including sugar and POL products. This
underscores the positive impact of the ongoing anti-smuggling operations on the nation’s economic
landscape. He also appreciated the assistance of other LEAs like FC, IB, Police and Levies in this
regard.
