CHITRAL: Public Health Engineering Department had carried potable clean drinking water to Chitral town from natural fountain of Golain in pipeline in the year 2010. At that time Booni Chitral road was property of Communication and Works department (C&W) and the road was narrow and pipe was carried on road side in outskirt of mountain. after federalization this road was handed over to National Highway Authority (NHA) of federal government. Due to heavy traffic and increasing of population the NHA widened this road after the wideness of the road, the pipe came in the middle of the road it is fear that might this pipe damaged due to passing of heavy and loaded vehicles on the road as well as in case of water leakage it can causing damaging of blacktop road.
This pipeline supplying drinking water to more than 40,000 residents of Chitral . Public Health Engineering Department estimated 290 Million rupees to move this pipe to a safe place and tendered it. After the necessary action, now the work has been started to shift this pipeline from the middle of the road and move it to a safe place. Hasan Khan, Project Manager of Peshawar Pipe and Construction Company says that the pipe should be shifted to a safe place as soon as possible so that the people do not face any kind of problems.
According to the director of the construction company, Fahad Azam, by shifting this pipeline will also be safe from all kinds of damage due to the passage of heavy vehicles on this road and the supply of drinking water to the people will also continue regularly.
This pipeline was brought to Chitral town along the 22 km Boni road, now more than 3000 meters of new pipe will be used and the old pipe will be taken out and moved to the side of the road in the remaining area. Be protected from all kinds of hazards. It should be noted that after welding this pipeline with a special type of rod, coal tar coating around the pipe and strong solution tape are also being applied on it to protect it from rusting.
