Islamabad: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Wednesday arrested Anwar Majeed and his son from the Supreme Court’s premises after the two attended the hearing in the fake accounts case.

A petition by the accused praying upon the court to unfreeze their accounts for disbursement of employee salaries was turned down by the court. The apex court further said that the decision to unfreeze the accounts is the FIA’s decision.
The court also rejected the plea of accused persons’ counsels that they should not be arrested by FIA during the probe.
Postponing the matter pertaining to the constitution of a high-powered JIT, the chief justice said the matter would be considered after Eid holidays. He added that it was former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan who had inducted ISI and MI officers in JITs.
