Sukkur Sindh Pakistan: Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) Sukkur organized a consultative session on “Global Food Safety standards, Compliances of ISO and other standards and methods of payment in international trade like LC.” The event was organized in collaboration with State Bank of Pakistan, SGS Pakistan, Sukkur Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Khairpur Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Sindh Chamber of Agriculture, Sindh Abadgar Foundation Khairpur, Growers of Dates and other agro products, Processors and exporters of Agro products, academia and others.
TDAP Sukkur highlighted that the objective of such session is to establish connectivity clarity among various stakeholders of growers, traders, processors, exporters and services suppliers, and others to increase exports from region.
The Chief Manager State Bank of Pakistan Sukkur delivered a comprehensive presentation on the financial services that banks offer to the exporters. He highlighted various incentivized credit schemes like PMYB&ALS & PMKJ-YES, Refinance Facility for Modernization of SMEs, Refinance & Credit Guarantee Scheme for Women Entrepreneurs, Refinance Scheme for Working Capital Financing of Small Enterprises and Low-End Medium Enterprises, Financing Facility for Storage of Agricultural Produce, Financing Scheme for Renewable Energy, Small Enterprise (SE) Financing and Credit Guarantee Scheme for Special Persons, SME Asaan Finance Scheme. The Chief Manager SBP educated the participants on various methods of payment and their types in international trade. He also apprised the audience about the commercial terms of trade, which buyers and sellers decide between themselves prior to signing any trade agreement/contract.
A technical team of SGS Pakistan was also invited from Karachi, who gave a very comprehensive presentation to the audience about global food safety standards of ISO and other standards and certificate requirements of different importing countries. They offered their services at the factory level to the participants. The senior vice president Sukkur Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) shared their role and services for the economy of Pakistan.
The audience shared their concerns and issues pertaining to various commercial banks and with other departments of government, which hindered their performance, which were addressed.
The participants of the session demanded the holding of such events on a monthly basis.
The participants thanked TDAP and SBP Sukkur for arranging such an inclusive consultative session of all the concerned stakeholders who contribute to the national economy and exports.
