Karachi : Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), in collaboration with the local police, has intensified its operations against gas thieves, tightening the noose around offenders.
A large-scale raid was carried out in Karachi’s Shah Latif Town and surrounding areas along the National Highway.
A 16-inch main distribution pipeline belonging to SSGC was found punctured at three separate points to facilitate gas theft. The stolen gas was being illegally supplied to approximately 1,900 households.
Residents were charged PKR 35,000 as an advance for illegal gas connections, and PKR 2,000 per month as a recurring fee.
The stolen gas was being supplied to multiple areas, including Shah Latif Town’s Sectors 22A, 22B, 30A, Dur Mohammad Goth, 30B, 31A, 30C, 30D, 30F, Sakina Sector 31B, 31D, Gulistan-e-Faisal Society, and Steel Town.
The individuals involved in this illegal activity have already been identified.
SSGC remains committed to combating gas theft in all its forms. The company is gearing up to take strict legal action against all those involved in this serious offense.
