KARACHI: Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) is significantly improving Karachi’s industrial energy supply with the installation of new high-pressure gas lines in Korangi and other key areas. Imran Manyar, the managing director of SSGC, announced this upgrade, which aims to provide a more reliable gas supply and boost production capacity for local industries.
Speaking at a recent event with the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI), Manyar explained that higher regasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) consumption in Punjab has led to lower prices there compared to Sindh. He expressed gratitude to the industrial community and KATI members for their ongoing support, noting the positive changes SSGC has experienced during his tenure.
KATI President Johar Qandhari lauded Manyar for his leadership and the improvements at SSGC, including the new high-pressure gas lines in Korangi. Qandhari highlighted a 56% reduction in gas theft, the lowest in two decades, and an increase in sector investments from Rs9 billion to Rs25 billion, with projections to reach Rs40 billion next year.
