Dear Friend of Deaf Reach,
My name is Sana and I am a student of Class 7 at Deaf Reach School.
When the flood washed away our house, we had nowhere to go. I missed my house, my friends, and my school. I missed learning new things with my friends but all my books and favorite belongings had washed away with the house. It felt like there was no way out of the misery as we tried to make do with whatever little we had left with us.
I would spend time drawing and writing with sticks in the sand. The frustration doubled as I struggled to express my sadness because no one could understand my language.
But when my Abbu got to know about Deaf Reach, he took me there. For the first time, I felt accepted. All around me, I saw children signing and it made me so happy. I was able to communicate and they actually understood me!
Deaf Reach provided me with the confidence I needed and a safe haven – a place where I feel understood and empowered!
