Karachi Pakistan : The organizers of the Sakinan-e-Shahr Quaid International Poetry Festival held a reception at Man Hill House, PECHS Karachi in honor of Dr. Abdullah, a prominent poet, scientist, and founder of the Aligarh Alumni Association, America, who came from Washington, USA.
The ceremony was presided over by educationist, writer and poet Dr. Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui. Host Mahmood Ahmed Khan and guest of honor Dr. Abdullah also spoke at the event. The ceremony was hosted by newscaster and poet Wajih Sani. While Dr. Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui, Dr. Abdullah, Tariq Sabzwari, Ahmed Salman, Akhtar Saeed, Nasira Zuberi, Ambrain Haseeb Amber, Salman Pirzada, Naeem Sameer, Mansoor Sahir, Umair Ali Anjum, Zeeshan Mehboob, Kamran Siddiqui and others delivered speeches and received applause from the audience.
On this occasion, bouquets were also presented to the guest of honor, Dr. Abdullah. Senator Abdul Hasib Khan said that it is unfortunate that 6.2 million children in the country do not go to school, which requires urgent attention. Dr. Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui said that although Dr. Abdullah lives in Washington DC, he is working all over the world for literature and he definitely participates in poetry readings wherever he goes. I have been with Dr. Abdullah since the beginning.
Dr. Abdullah is a big name in Urdu poetry and he tries to have as many poetry recitals as possible. People should present their speeches and people should come to the mushairas and listen to speeches on current affairs and other topics. At the end of the Mushaira, Mahmood Khan, the organizer of the Shahr-e-Qaed Alami Mushaira, thanked the poets and attendees and said that this is an effort to hold as many Mushairas as possible and for poets from the country and abroad to participate and present their poetry.
