Qatar Airways to Launch Western Sydney Flights in December 2027

Qatar Airways will connect Doha and Western Sydney with three weekly flights from December 2027.
Qatar Airways has announced plans to launch passenger flights between Hamad International Airport in Doha and Western Sydney International Airport on December 15, 2027.
The new service will make Western Sydney the airline’s seventh Australian gateway. Its existing Australian destinations include Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Canberra.
Bookings for the new route are scheduled to open on December 19, 2026. The service will give Australian travellers another option for reaching Doha and connecting to destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas.
Three Weekly Flights to Connect Doha and Western Sydney
Qatar Airways will initially operate three flights per week using its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. The aircraft will feature 42 Business Class seats and 312 Economy Class seats.
The airline’s Business Class cabin will include its Qsuite product. Passengers will also have access to complimentary Starlink Wi-Fi.
The airline plans to increase the service gradually to daily flights. This expansion would offer passengers more flexibility and strengthen links between Australia and international markets.
Qatar Airways Highlights Trade and Tourism Opportunities
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer Hamad Al Khater described the new route as another step in the airline’s long-standing relationship with Australia.

He said the service would connect Western Sydney directly with Doha. Through Hamad International Airport, passengers would gain access to more than 170 destinations across the airline’s global network.
Al Khater said the route could support trade, tourism and investment between Australia, Qatar and other markets. He also highlighted opportunities for exporters in New South Wales.
The airport’s round-the-clock operating capacity will allow the airline to schedule flights with greater flexibility. Qatar Airways expects the service to attract international visitors and provide another departure point for Australian travellers.
Western Sydney International Expands Its Global Reach
Western Sydney International Airport Chief Executive Officer Simon Hickey welcomed the airline’s decision to launch services at the airport.
Hickey said the partnership would give passengers access to Qatar Airways’ Doha hub and its international network. He also highlighted the airport’s growing range of airline partners.
According to Hickey, travellers will be able to reach more than 250 destinations worldwide through the airport’s airline network within the first 14 months of its launch.
He added that the airport’s 24-hour operating capacity would support greater choice and flexibility for travellers, businesses and airline partners.
Partnership with Virgin Australia Supports Network Growth
The new route will complement the wider growth plans of the Qatar Airways–Virgin Australia partnership. The airlines expect their cooperation to support further network development and improve access to international destinations.
The expansion also reinforces Qatar Airways’ presence in Australia, one of its important international markets.
