Lahore — The Punjab government has extended the enforcement of Section 144 across the province, maintaining a complete ban on outdoor drone flying for another 30 days, according to an official notification issued on Sunday.

The Home Department stated that the restriction, originally imposed due to security concerns, will now remain in effect until May 25. Officials said the decision was taken to address potential threats and ensure the protection of sensitive installations and public safety.
“Considering the overall security situation, it is imperative to ensure the safety of the people and protection of installations and buildings against any potential threat or untoward activity,” the notification read.
The government further emphasized that the extension was necessary “in the larger interest of public safety, security, peace and tranquillity,” adding that there were sufficient legal grounds under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898, to prevent any disturbance of public order.
However, authorities clarified that the ban does not apply to limited indoor use of small drones, particularly during events held in wedding halls and marquees for coverage purposes. The notification stated that organizers will be responsible for ensuring safe usage within confined indoor spaces.
The restriction also exempts drone operations conducted by intelligence and law enforcement agencies. Meanwhile, the provincial administration and police have been directed to ensure strict enforcement of the order throughout the extended period.
