Changsha — Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday underscored the importance of strengthening industrial cooperation, technology transfer and skills development with China, stating that deeper collaboration could significantly boost Pakistan’s infrastructure and industrial growth.

During his week-long visit to Hunan and Hainan provinces, the president highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to expanding partnerships in key sectors of the economy. As part of his engagements, he visited SANY Heavy Industry in Changsha, where he reviewed advanced manufacturing systems and explored opportunities for joint ventures.
SANY Group Chairman Tang Xiuguo briefed the president on the company’s operations, research and development initiatives, and global presence, while Changsha Vice Mayor Qian Lexia was also present. Officials informed the delegation that the company recorded an operating revenue of $11.27 billion in 2024, reflecting strong growth driven by innovation and product expansion.
President Zardari toured the company’s flagship factory, where he was introduced to digitally integrated manufacturing systems, automation and data-driven production processes. He appreciated the use of modern technology and praised the company’s production capacity and quality standards.
“Such partnerships can significantly support Pakistan’s infrastructure and industrial growth,” he said, emphasizing cooperation in construction machinery, digital manufacturing, renewable energy and engineering sectors.
The SANY leadership expressed interest in expanding collaboration with Pakistan in manufacturing, technology exchange and capacity building.
Later, President Zardari visited Hunan Tea Group Co Ltd, where Chairman Zhou Zhongwang briefed him on the company’s integrated operations, including cultivation, processing, research and global marketing. The president highlighted opportunities for cooperation in agro-processing, value addition and export development, inviting the company to explore partnerships in Pakistan.
The president also met Shen Xiaoming and attended a banquet hosted by Mao Weiming, where discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in agriculture, health, education and trade.
During the engagements, President Zardari invited Chinese leadership to visit Pakistan for the upcoming 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations, reaffirming the enduring strength of bilateral ties. He described Pakistan-China relations as a cornerstone of foreign policy and expressed confidence in their continued growth.
Officials from both sides said the visit would help expand cooperation in agriculture, industry and minerals, while further strengthening people-to-people and institutional linkages between the two countries.
