The Pakistan Cardiac Society (PCS) Karachi Chapter has unveiled its strategic vision for 2026, emphasizing clinical innovation, research-driven practice, and stronger institutional collaboration during a high-level session held at the Tabba Heart Institute.

The event, titled “Clinical Innovation & Strategic Continuity,” brought together leading cardiologists, academics, and healthcare professionals to define a unified roadmap for advancing cardiovascular care in Pakistan.
The proceedings were led by Dr. Aliya Kemal Ahsan, who served as Master of Ceremony, moderator, and key presenter. A major highlight of the session was the official launch of “The Karachi Beat,” a new electronic bulletin designed to enhance clinical communication and disseminate cutting-edge cardiology research across the medical community.
Dr. Ahsan described the platform as a step toward modernizing knowledge-sharing and strengthening connectivity among cardiology professionals.
The strategic direction for 2026 was outlined through a series of presentations by senior leadership of the PCS Karachi Chapter. Dr. Akram Sultan opened the session by presenting the society’s long-term vision, focusing on institutional development, leadership collaboration, and professional excellence.
General Secretary Dr. Riffat Sultana followed with a detailed operational roadmap for 2026, outlining planned activities, structural improvements, and academic initiatives aimed at strengthening the society’s impact.
Dr. Bashir Hanif presented a focused agenda on cardiovascular prevention and research, stressing the urgent need for evidence-based approaches to reduce heart disease burden. He emphasized that proactive clinical intervention remains essential in addressing rising cardiovascular risks.
Providing academic insight, Prof. Fawad Farooq highlighted the importance of innovation in clinical practice and reinforced the need for continuous adoption of global medical standards in Pakistan’s healthcare system.
The session also underscored institutional cooperation, with contributions from Dr. Salman Ghauri (GS-PIMA Pakistan) and Dr. Ismail Memon (President PMA Karachi), who emphasized stronger coordination between professional medical bodies including PMA, PIMA, and PCS.
Senior medical experts including Dr. Mansoor Ahmed, Dr. Khan Shah E Zaman, Dr. Najma Patel, Prof. Dr. Hasanat Sharif, Dr. Khalida Somroo, Dr. Hassanat Sharif, and Dr. Gul Hassan Brohi also shared insights on clinical advancement and healthcare system improvement.
The event concluded with an interactive discussion session focusing on future workshops and collaborative initiatives, followed by closing remarks from Mr. Khalid of BMJ Pakistan. An official group photograph marked the conclusion of the session, symbolizing unity and shared commitment among Karachi’s cardiology community.
