He said that the rules made under the DRAP are the same for pharmaceuticals and medical devices, which is a loss for the medical device industry Because taxes are not being applied on the finished devices, while taxes are being imposed on the raw materials used to manufacture it, which is the biggest problem in the way of manufacturing high-quality medical devices in Pakistan.
Dr. Shahid Noor said that Pakistan imports medical devices
Worth 2 billion dollars every year. If the government introduces business-friendly policies, then the Pakistani medical device industry will grow and will be able to play a role in the improvement of the economy while providing cheap treatment to the people. Employment opportunities will also be available.
He said that currently 98% of medical devices are imported in Pakistan while only 2% are manufactured in Pakistan, so we want to establish Special Economic Zone, Special Technology Zone and Export Processing Zone Authority in Pakistan where raw materials are available free of taxes. Get relief and export medical devices from Pakistan to the world, which will stabilize the economy of Pakistan and the country will be able to join the list of developed countries.
