One day seminar on Youth for a cooler planet & Climate change held.

Chitral: A one -day seminar was held at a local hotel in Chitral organized by the helping hand organized by the helping hand Title of the seminar was Youth for A Cooler Planet In this seminar, environment analyst Hamid Ahmad Mir presented a presentation on climate change and the changes in the world due to smoke and Imation and carbonyloxies gases. Environmental Experts said that thousands of factories are existing in the developed countries in the world exhausting carbon dioxide and poisonous gas hugs, in Pakistan  there are very less factories  and there is no factory  in Chitral, but still smoke from the factory in these countries, badly affecting even such  backward districts like Chitral. Experts said that due to global warming, causes melting of centuries old glaciers lying on the mountains of Chitral, causing sudden floods, which causes massive financial and human loss. Experts urged on  the young generation for sapling  more and more plants to protect their planet, (world) from global warming and the negative effects of climate change, so that the damages ratio  can be minimized in case of any natural disaster.

During the seminar, experts from different fields spoke in a  panellist discussion  and also answered the participants’ questions. Participants objected that GLOF-II  project of eight billion rupees running under UNDP financial support  to save people from the loss of glacier exploding on the mountains area, but they  only spends money on verbal deposit but does not appear to be practical work. Responding to his question  President of  Chitral Press Club Zaheeruddin Ajaz said, “This is half true. We were recently visited in Chitral and Swat, Dir, by GLOF-II  Project where they have constructed protection walls, irrigation channels, community halls etc  to protect the people in  flood -hit areas from further destruction.

During the  seminar it was reported that people in Chitral often burn wood for  cooking and heating purposes to  keep themselves warm in the winter, which on one hand, if smoke rises, while  on the other hand it also has a lot of burden on the forests which have very negative impact on the environment. They demanded from the government to provide cheap electricity or Gas as alternate fuel to people of Chitral to use it for cooking and heating purposes so as to minimize burden on forest. Shuja -ul -Haq said that the main purpose of this seminar was to create awareness among  the public especially in  young generation to play their role  how they could protect their environment from negative effects.

Nasreen Bibi says that whenever there is a natural disaster, children and women are more affected and women who are pregnant cannot run, so we all have a responsibility to make our environment  clean and save it from negative impact.  AS well as we should to Play a key role in protection of our planet  so that we can avoid the losses in the form of natural calamities. The seminar was attended by a large number of women and men which was ended wit this pray that Allah Almighty should protect Pakistan from all kinds of evil and natural affairs.
