KARACHI: The police presented two suspects, Armaghan and Sheeraz, in the Mustafa Amir murder case before a judicial magistrate (South) on Wednesday.
During the hearing, the court questioned the investigation officer (I/O) about notifying the defense lawyers and expressed disappointment over the officer’s performance, as the identification parade and witness statements under Section 164 had not yet been conducted. The court issued notices to the defense lawyers and ordered the suspects to be produced again on Thursday.
According to police reports, Mustafa Amir was kidnapped and brutally murdered by his friends in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA) on January 6. His body was stuffed in a car trunk and set on fire in the Hub area of Balochistan.
During interrogation, Armaghan confessed to the murder, stating that he attacked Mustafa Amir with an iron rod at his house, in a manner inspired by a movie scene. He later drove the car from Khayaban-e-Mohafiz to Dareji, set the vehicle on fire while Mustafa was still alive and semi-conscious, and fired three warning shots that did not hit the victim.
Police authorities confirmed that Armaghan’s confession was recorded on video, and further investigations are ongoing.
