ISLAMABAD – July 18, 2025 – The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has reported devastating losses caused by ongoing monsoon rains and flash floods across Pakistan. Between June 26 and July 17, at least 178 people lost their lives, and 491 others were injured in various rain-related incidents, as per ARY News.
Punjab remains the worst-affected region with 103 deaths, followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 38, Sindh with 20, and Balochistan with 16 fatalities.
Just in the past 24 hours, 54 people have died, and 227 have sustained injuries due to rain-triggered accidents nationwide. Flash floods were cited as the primary cause behind most casualties, alongside building collapses and other hazards intensified by the heavy rains.
Weather Update:
Torrential rains have improved temperatures but paralyzed daily life in several cities. Rawalpindi, in particular, has been severely affected, with authorities announcing a local holiday amid urban flooding and rising Nullah Leh water levels. Emergency warnings have been issued for residents in flood-prone zones as areas near Gawalmandi and Katarian bridges reach dangerously high water levels.
