Karachi: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted light to heavy rains for Karachi over the next 24 hours. On Sunday, several areas of the city, including Malir Halt, Defence, Korangi, Landhi, and Quaidabad, experienced light showers. The weather is expected to remain cloudy with strong winds, as the rain system continues to affect the region.
Current temperatures in Karachi are around 27°C, with a forecasted high of 32°C. The sea breeze may reach speeds of 15 to 25 kilometers per hour, and humidity levels are at 88%.
In response to the rainy conditions, traffic police have issued safety precautions. Motorists are advised to drive slowly, avoid sudden braking, and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles due to slippery roads. Motorcyclists are especially urged to stay on the left side of the road for added safety.
Meanwhile, heavy monsoon rains across the country have caused significant damage. At least eight people have been killed, and dozens injured in various rain-related incidents. Areas affected include Rajanpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Balochistan, where flash floods have damaged homes, crops, roads, and infrastructure.
