Jamshoro: Mr. NAKAGAWA Yasushi, Acting Consul General of Japan in Karachi attended the Handover Ceremony of books from the Nippon Foundation under the ‘Read Japan Project’ to Mehran University of Engineering and Technology – MUET. The University’s Vice Chancellor Pro Vice Chancellor and others were also present at the ceremony.
Mr. Nakagawa made congratulatory remarks and expressed his expectation of further collaboration with the University. He added that it was his pleasure to be in this gracious presence and to handover a gift of 98 books donated by the Nippon Foundation, the foremost public welfare and philanthropic organization in Japan. It had been Mr. Nakagawa’s enduring fascination to visit the area and he expressed gratitude for gaining this valuable opportunity finally.


The program of donating books serves the cause of this aspiration most favorably in introducing, as the first step, Japan in the deeper sphere. The 98 books presented were carefully selected by individuals with extensive knowledge of Japan, which encompass wide-ranging areas of discipline, including politics, economics, history, culture, literature and arts.
Mr. Nakagawa also had the chance to visit Sindh University’s Far East & Southeast Area Study Center and meet the director as well as the professors of the center, while visiting the Japanese Book Corner in the university library and the Japanese Language classes being conducted there.
Mehran University of Engineering and Technology and Sindh University Jamshoro, both are the pioneers of educational institutions in the region and has established itself as the Center of Excellence in scholarly pursuits, attracting many promising students.
