KARACHI- President Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Karachi and member Sindh Assembly Khurram Sher Zaman have said that the Federal government will provide all out support to the Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan (ABAD) to resolve problems of construction industry in Karachi and the Governor Sindh will sign Construction Regularization Ordinance after consultation with ABAD soon.
He was addressing members of ABAD here at ABAD House on Monday. A delegation comprising MPAs and MNAs including Shahzad Qureshi, Fahim Khan, Miss Seema Zia and Adnan of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf visited ABAD house. Chairman ABAD Mohsin Sheikhani, Senior Vice Chairman Hanif Memon, Vice Chairman Altaf Kantawala, Chairman SR Sufian Adhia, former chairmen Junaid Ashraf Taloo, Muhammad Hassan Bakshi, Fayyaz Ilyas and a large number of ABAD members were present on this occasion.
Khurram Sher Zaman said that PTI government wants growth of construction industry that is the reason why Prime Minister Imran Khan has announced an attractive and comprehensive relief package to the construction industry. He said that we want to provide One Window System for approval of projects. He also said that the Prime Minister will meet a delegation of ABAD on 10th December, 2021 when he is visiting Karachi for inauguration of Green Line bus service. Khurram Sher Zaman said that federal government will complete K-4 water project for Karachi and Karachi Circular Railway project will be completed within two years.
He said that confidence of builders, developers and allottees has been shaken due to demolition orders of Nasla Tower and other buildings and investment in Karachi is stopped. He said that he has talked with the Prime Minister regarding Nasla Tower. If respected judges had ordered to take action against corrupt government officials responsible for approving these projects, illegal construction in Karachi could have been stopped, he lamented.
Welcoming PTI delegation, Chairman ABAD Mohsin Shaikhani said that ABABD has stopped all kinds of construction activities in Karachi since last ten days and if our demdns are not met, we will extend this decision to other cities of the country. However, we are moving slowly due to fear that thousands of other people depending on construction will lose their jobs, he said adding that to save construction industry, allied industries and jobs of construction workers we contacted the Prime Minister, CM Sindh and Governor Sindh to pass a law for the protection of construction industry.
He lamented that two laws are prevailing in Karachi one for ABAD members and one for Bahria Town, which has given free hand and applying no government rules. “Now, we are on verge of a war like situation and people are left with no option but to react against injustice,” he said adding that either our approvals are being delayed or problems are being created even after granting all approval. He expressed the hope that the federal government will ask Sindh Governor to sign the Construction Regularization Ordinance to protect construction industry as well as interest of general public because the real beneficiary will be people.
PTI MNA Fahim Khan, MPAs Shehzad Qureshi and Dr. Seema Zia also spoke on this occasion.
