An agreement has been reached between the government of Pakistan and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Government sources said a statement on the deal would be issued soon.
According to sources, Pakistan will get one billion dollars immediately from the IMF. The IMF team will also visit Pakistan in two weeks.
According to Finance Ministry sources, the IMF agreed with the government’s measures. The IMF has also agreed on the steps taken by Pakistan for the budget for the next financial year.
According to sources, the IMF also agrees with Pakistan’s budget targets.
Earlier in the day, during a meeting of the federal cabinet, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif had decided to take the nation into confidence in the negotiations with the IMF.
Talking about this during the meeting of the Federal Cabinet, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that raising the prices of petroleum products has nothing to do with negotiations with the IMF.
