KARACHI: Farooq Ahmed, a well-regarded businessman and community leader, has been elected unopposed as Chairman of the Pakistan Leather Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PLGMEA). Ahmed, also CEO of Data Paper Mill Private Limited and Madina Oasis, was chosen for his extensive experience and leadership.
Ahmed is actively involved in various social organizations, including the Rotary Club of Karachi Sunset Millennium and the Sialkot Narwal Welfare Association. His election was supported unanimously by the association’s members, reflecting his strong standing in both business and community service.
In his new role, Ahmed is dedicated to promoting Pakistan’s leather garments industry. He highlighted the vital role of over 800 tanneries in producing high-quality leather products like jackets, bags, and gloves. Ahmed called for increased government support to boost the industry and stabilize the economy. He vowed to approach his duties with enthusiasm and commitment, aiming to enhance the global presence of Pakistan’s leather sector.
