KARACHI, October 20, 2025 – Dr. Sayeda Zia Batool, Director General Pakistan Standards and Quality
Control Authority (PSQCA), chaired a comprehensive review meeting of all directorates and sections at
the PSQCA Head office in Karachi today. The meeting underscored the Authority's commitment to
upholding rigorous standards and protecting consumer interests across the nation.
Accompanied by Secretary PSQCA Mr. A.K Rind and concerned directors, Dr. Batool reviewed the
operations of various components and sections of the PSQCA office, engaging with staff and receiving
detailed briefings on the ongoing operations and technical advancements.
In her address to the employees and management, the DG appreciated the diligent efforts and valuable
contributions of the PSQCA employees in promoting a culture of quality assurance throughout Pakistan.
She highlighted the critical role the Authority plays in the country's economic landscape.
"PSQCA is not just a regulatory body, it is a vital engine for economic prosperity and improving of
standard of life of people in the Pakistan." Dr. Sayeda Zia Batool stated. "Our work is fundamental to
establishing sustainable standards across all sectors, which in turn fosters trade, enhances industrial
competitiveness, and builds international confidence in 'Made in Pakistan' products."
A central theme of Dr. Batool's review was an unwavering focus on safeguarding the public. She
emphasized that consumer protection is the PSQCA's top priority.
"We must maintain constant vigilance," the DG asserted. "There will be zero tolerance for substandard products in the market. Our consumers deserve the very best, and PSQCA is dedicated to ensuring that only safe, high-quality, and reliable goods are made available to them."
Dr. Sayeda Zia Batool directed the management to intensify market surveillance and enforcement
activities, urging the technical wings to expedite the process of standard development and harmonization
with international best practices. She further stressed the need for proactive engagement with industry
stakeholders to facilitate compliance and adherence to mandatory standards.
The review meeting concluded with re-emphasizing to provide all necessary resources to strengthen the
PSQCA’s testing, inspection, and certification capabilities, reinforcing its mandate as the guardian of
quality and standards in Pakistan.
