Karachi Pakistan : In the early hours of October 13, 2024, an urgent call reached the SIEHS-1122 Command and Control center from a rural health facility in District Badin. A young pregnant woman, experiencing severe labor pains, required immediate medical transport. Responding swiftly, the nearby ambulance team was dispatched to assist.
As the labor progressed rapidly during the journey, the SIEHS 1122 frontliners, with quick thinking, expert care, and the consent of the attendant, prepared for an emergency delivery inside the moving ambulance. Shukur Alhamdulilah, a healthy baby boy was safely born in the Hope ambulance, filling the air with joy. At 4:15 AM, near the Khoski bypass, the delivery was successfully managed.
This is one of 233 babies delivered inside SIEHS ambulances since its inception on August 9, 2021, and among 66 deliveries facilitated in the past fiscal year alone. Both mother and baby were stabilized and safely transferred to Rural Health Centre (RHC) Nindo for further care. With an average dispatch time of just 148 seconds, SIEHS ensures timely responses when every second counts. The service handles over 20,000 calls daily, or 758 calls per hour, showcasing the unwavering dedication of the team.
