Karachi (Special Correspondent): A major and memorable milestone in Pakistan’s sports history was achieved when international-standard MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fighting trials were held in Karachi for the first time. This historic event was organized under Comic Con Pakistan 2026 titled Trials of Combat Sports, featuring high-quality and thrilling competitions in MMA, kickboxing, and boxing.

The event was organized under the auspices of the Sindh Youth Club, with enthusiastic participation from young and talented fighters from across the country. Matches were conducted in various weight categories under the supervision of professional and certified referees. The day-long contests provided intense excitement and entertainment for sports fans.

On this occasion, the President of Comic Con Pakistan, Syed Aamir Sajjad, while giving a detailed media briefing, stated that the primary objective of the event is to attract youth towards positive, healthy, and constructive activities. He said that Pakistan has no shortage of sports talent; the real need is to provide young athletes with the right platform, quality training, and international opportunities.

Syed Aamir Sajjad further informed that approximately 150 players participated in these official trials, out of which 50 top players were selected through a transparent, fair, and merit-based selection process. These selected athletes will represent Pakistan at the grand Comic Con Pakistan 2026 event scheduled to be held on Saturday, January 31, at the Karachi Expo Centre.

He added that the event was organized with the cooperation of the Sports and Youth Affairs Department, Government of Sindh, which clearly reflects the joint efforts of the government and private sector in paving the way for a positive, safe, and bright future for the youth. He emphasized that Comic Con Pakistan will continue to organize such events to promote discipline, self-confidence, and international-level competitive skills among the younger generation through sports.
Sports circles, coaches, and participants welcomed this historic event and expressed hope that more international-standard combat sports competitions will be held in Pakistan in the future. Such events, they believe, will not only provide growth opportunities for young athletes but also project a positive image of Pakistan at the global level.
