The new Coke Studio platform launches its six-track series with a surreal love story featuring Afusic and Zoha Waseem.

Afusic and Zoha Waseem feature in Coke Studio Nu.WAV’s debut track ‘Dil’.
KARACHI, : Coke Studio Nu.WAV has launched its first track, ‘Dil’, bringing together Afusic and Zoha Waseem in an intimate take on love, distraction and connection.
The song marks the beginning of a six-release series from Coke Studio Nu.WAV. Produced by Ali Soomro, ‘Dil’ developed from a spontaneous studio session. Soomro began with his guitar, and within 20 minutes, a beat had started to emerge.
Later that night, Afusic received the track and recorded a voice note on his phone. By the following morning, the team felt little needed changing. Soomro describes the creative moment as aamad, or an idea arriving before you actively search for it.
‘Dil’ Explores Love and Distraction
At its heart, ‘Dil’ is a personal love song. Afusic’s verses address a woman who knew him before his rise to wider recognition.
His lyrics explore the distractions that come with success and public attention. However, the emotional focus remains on the person at the centre of the relationship.
Iran Says US Warships Targeted as Maritime Tensions Escalate
When Zoha Waseem enters, the song takes another direction. Her vocals turn the track into a conversation and provide a second perspective on the relationship.
As a result, the two voices create a contrast between personal reflection and shared emotion.
A Surreal Visual World
The music video takes the theme of disruption into a surreal setting. Kamal Khan directed the film, which loosely draws on classic hero’s journey stories.
Afusic plays a man struggling to find his way home. Meanwhile, Zoha exists in a world where ordinary reality has been turned upside down.
Furniture hangs from ceilings, while everyday objects appear in unusual places. The strange setting reflects the emotional distance between the two characters.
Eventually, they find themselves in the same room. At that moment, everything returns to its proper place.
Kamal Khan, Executive Producer of Coke Studio Nu.WAV, said ‘Dil’ was a fitting choice to launch the platform. He added that the song reflects the idea of artists bringing personal experiences into their work.
Afusic Brings a Digital-First Sound
Afusic, a Hyderabad-born singer, songwriter and rapper, has emerged as one of the notable voices in contemporary South Asian pop and hip-hop.
His breakout track ‘Pal Pal’ gained hundreds of millions of streams. Moreover, the song reached audiences outside Pakistan, including listeners in the UK and Canada.
His journey from an independent digital-first artist reflects the changing landscape of South Asian music. Digital platforms, in particular, have allowed emerging artists to reach international audiences without relying solely on traditional industry routes.
Zoha Waseem Blends Classical and Contemporary Music
Zoha Waseem brings a different musical background to ‘Dil’. Her foundation comes from classical and ghazal singing.
She first gained recognition through classical performances in Lahore. Later, releases such as ‘Majboor’ helped introduce her voice to a growing digital audience.
Consequently, her work bridges traditional vocal training with contemporary production. That combination gives ‘Dil’ another layer and complements Afusic’s modern pop and hip-hop influence.
‘Dil’ Brings Together a New Creative Team
Afusic and Ali Raza wrote and composed ‘Dil’. Ali Soomro arranged and produced the music, while Sean Tallman handled mastering.
Kamal Khan directed the film. Aamir Mughal served as Director of Photography, while Syed Hammad Sohail led production design.
The project comes from Gali Films, with Iman Khan serving as producer.
Together, the artists and production team establish the creative direction of Coke Studio Nu.WAV from its opening release.
Six Releases Set to Follow
‘Dil’ is the first of six planned Coke Studio Nu.WAV releases.
The platform will introduce new songs and visual concepts over the coming weeks. Each release is expected to bring together different artists, sounds and creative approaches.
For now, ‘Dil’ sets the tone for the project with a blend of contemporary pop, hip-hop, classical vocals and surreal storytelling.
