Karachi: On August 28 in Karachi The Center of Open Education was launched. The project was implemented through the efforts of the staff of the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Karachi (RCSC) and Ural State Pedagogical University (USPU).

The opening ceremony of The Center was held in the format of an open educational session. The event began with the welcoming speech by Ruslan Prokhorov, Director of the RCSC, and the speech by Svetlana Minyurova, Rector of USPU. Then, teachers of USPU Roman Porozov and Anton Dolgov conducted a pilot lesson on Russian as a foreign language, during which the guests got acquainted with the system of Russian letters and sounds. The lesson was attended by both regular visitors of the RCSC and local residents who recently learned about the creation of The Center of Open Education. The event also did not go unnoticed by the Karachi news media: Ural teachers shared their impressions of working in Pakistan with reporters from the AUSAF BROADCASTING NETWORK and PAKISTAN TODAY.

The opening of The Center is the most important event on the international agenda of USPU. Earlier, Ural State Pedagogical University, on behalf of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, became part of the project “Discovering the World of Russian Language and Culture”. The project implies the establishment of a dialogue between Russia and foreign partners through education and cultural exchange. In this regard, Pakistan has become a priority for the Ural Pedagogical University. So, in August 2023, USPU established a similar center in the capital of Pakistan, Islamabad.

The Center of Open Education will ensure sustainable cooperation between Pakistan and Russia. In particular, thanks to the Center, there are prospects for academic partnership. As the first joint project, USPU and Karachi universities are organizing Russian language courses for Pakistani students, which will last from September to November.
Ural Pedagogical University expresses its sincere gratitude to the head of the Russian Center for Science and Culture Ruslan Prokhorov and his team for their assistance in the implementation of the project “Discovering the World of Russian Language and Culture”. We hope for further cooperation.
