CANADA : A Canadian cafe owner has set his sights on a Guinness World Record by baking a 17-foot-by-17-foot carrot cake for his 80th birthday. British Columbian Ted Martindale (who owns Granville’s Coffee) teamed up with several other local bakeries to create his birthday cake. The cake was made with 1,760 pounds of carrots, 700 pounds of butter, thousands of eggs and nearly 2,000 grams of icing. Ted said it took him a month to make the 430-piece cake, which was later served at Ted’s birthday party on Wednesday. Ted said his cake weighed around 6,044 pounds, which Guinness World Records will award him with the record after seeing the evidence.
