SINGAPORE : New research has revealed that caffeine can protect memory from damage caused by sleep deprivation and can even help restore it. During the study, researchers from the National University of Singapore focused on the CA2 region of the hippocampus, a part of the brain that is considered important for social memory. The results of this study conducted by researchers on mice have revealed that sleep deprivation increases the signaling of a chemical called adenosine in the brain, which promotes sleep and affects memory. According to research results, caffeine can reduce signaling related to a chemical called adenosine in the brain and protect social memory from damage caused by sleep deprivation.
