Balochistan: In the upcoming Senate elections, candidates from Balochistan have secured their spots in the Upper House without facing any opposition. The Election Commission of Pakistan announced the unopposed election of candidates for all seats allocated to Balochistan, including seven general seats, two women’s seats, and two technocrat seats. This decisive victory underscores the province’s robust representation in the upper echelons of parliament.
Meanwhile, in Punjab, seven senators on general seats, including prominent figures like Ahad Khan Cheema, Pervaiz Rasheed, and Talal Chaudhry, have been declared winners without contest. The election for seats reserved for women, technocrats, and minorities in Punjab is scheduled for April 2.
The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has expressed dissatisfaction with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) over seat adjustments in Punjab, particularly regarding women’s seats. Despite tensions, the PPP has maintained its stance, refusing to withdraw Faiza Malik’s candidacy in response to the PML-N’s position.
