Islamabad: Ayaz Sadiq, the Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly, announced that speeches criticizing the army and judiciary will not be permitted in parliament. He stated, “We will cut any speeches against these institutions.” This rule applies to current members of the army and judiciary, but not to retired officials.
Sadiq also mentioned that he is unaware of the details regarding recent attempts by the coalition government to pass constitutional amendments. Additionally, he clarified that law enforcement agencies no longer influence the scheduling of parliamentary sessions, a practice that was more common in the past.
These comments come as the National Assembly continues to discuss various topics, including those related to the country’s institutions. Sadiq’s statements emphasize the importance of showing respect to the military and judiciary during discussions in parliament.
