Pakistan’s star javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem made history by winning a gold medal at the Asian Athletics Championship in Korea, with a remarkable final throw of 86.40 meters.
In the final, Arshad showed consistent improvement:
- 1st attempt: 75.64m
- 2nd: 76.80m
- 3rd: 85.57m
- 4th: 83.99m
- 5th: 83.44m
- 6th (Final): 86.40m
His performance earned him the top spot, while India’s Sachin Yadav secured the silver medal.
Fellow Pakistani athlete Yasir Sultan also competed in the final, with a best throw of 75.50 meters.
This win is historic for Pakistan — the first gold medal at the Asian Athletics Championship in over 50 years, since the last one in 1973, when Muhammad Younis and Allah Ditta brought home gold in the same event.
The victory adds to Arshad Nadeem’s impressive record:
- Olympic Gold (Paris 2024) – 92.97m (Olympic record)
- Commonwealth Gold (2022) – 90.18m (Commonwealth Games record)
Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi congratulated Arshad, his coach, and his family, calling him “a son of the soil who continues to make Pakistan proud.”
Celebrations broke out in Arshad’s hometown, while social media lit up with messages of pride and joy over this monumental achievement.
