The Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting meeting held today at PTV Headquarters, Islamabad under the Chairpersonship of Ms. Javairia Zafar Aheer, MNA.
- The Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting strongly condemned the malicious media campaign regarding the recent visit of the Parliamentary Delegation to Canada for the 65th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference led by Honourable Speaker. The Honorable Chairperson of the Standing Committee directed the Chairman PEMRA to appear in the next meeting and asked for the report of the TV channels running the media campaign.
- The Committee rejected “The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2021” (moved by Ms. Uzma Riaz, MNA) due to non availability of the mover.
- The Committee deferred the following Bills till its next meeting: –
i. The Motion Pictures (Amendment) Bill, 2020 (Government Bill);
ii. The Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2020 (Government Bill) and
iii. The Associated Press of Pakistan Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2020 (Government Bill) - The Committee appointed a sub-Committee with the following composition and Terms of References (TORs):-
