The first Pakistani woman to win the prestigious Women in Technology Award by Globant. Emanating from Pakistan’s city of lights, Karachi, Anum Shakeel has been a highly capable student ever since childhood. Anum was the first to complete college and a master’s degree in her family and become the position holder. She learned firsthand the difference mentorship and career guidance could make in a student’s life.
As a social entrepreneur and founder of the Marketects Club, Anum has trained and mentored more than 10,000 students to get into the corporate world through internships, volunteer opportunities, and career counseling.
Anum played a key role as a founding board member at the leading conference and exhibition for startups in Pakistan. And she has worked with 300+ budding startups and provided great support to the startup ecosystem of Pakistan.
Currently, she is associated with another tech company with the mission to increase financial inclusion in a country by giving consumers a reason to go cashless and digital. In the last 30 months company has on boarded 14 million users and 20,000 merchants and is working with all the major Telcos, the national payment switch, and banks to create an eco-system to transform the country.
Anum realizes that woman’s education and inclusivityare the dire need of the recent world and she tries to shoulder the responsibilities for this important cause as much as she can. On her tireless commitment to women’s development in Pakistan, she has been awarded the Role Model Women Award 2021 by FJF Foundation. She has also managed to snag a spot in the top 25 females to be followed in the Pakistani tech industry by the Women in Tech- PK platform.
On an International level, Anum is appointed as the Digital Ambassador at World Pulse, which is a global social network where every woman can rise up to voice herself and transform her community. She is also serving as a Global Shaper in its Karachi Hub at GSC-An initiative of the World Economic Forum and representing Pakistan at different global dialogues related to socio-economic issues.
Anum Shakeel is also the recipient of the National Youth Award 2021 and National Peace Award 2021. This story is of commitment, courage, and consistency for the young girls of the nation.
