Zubair Tufail, President, United Business Group (UBG), has said that the government needs to formulate special policies for strengthening the country’s economy and for export and import.
The government can only succeed if it prepare policies in consultation with the stakeholders.
He expressed these views during a meeting with Salman Aslam, President, Korangi Association of Trade and Industry. Zubair Tufail said that the government should use the available national resources and opportunities. Unfortunately, we have not been able to increase the local production capacity nor have we been able to control the trade deficit by curbing luxury items.
It was the fifth largest producer of cotton but now we are importing cotton to meet the needs of the country’s textile industry while billions of dollars worth of yarn is being imported from China which is a concern for the nation and the government itself. The reason is because if we continue to send dollars out of the country ignoring the national resources in this way, then Pakistan’s dream of becoming a developed country will remain.
Referring to the FPCCI elections of 2022, Zubair Tufail said that the group of businessmen who had won artificially by rigging in the federation elections last year would have a shocking defeat in the elections of December 30, 2021.
We will not give up our dignity in the elections to be held on December 30, because we are not the people who will be the victims, but this time the results cannot be changed on the basis of bullying, intimidation and force of arms. Under the patronage of M Munir and Iftikhar Ali Malik is strong once again and United Business Group workers and leaders across the country have started campaigning.
