KARACHI – And We have ransomed you with a mighty sacrifice” – Qur’an 37:107. The Eid reminds us of the value of obedience, sacrifice and Allah’s divine mercy. Ambassador at Large for Global Peace & Human Rights Imam Allama Muhammad Ahsan Siddiqui Chairman, Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) in his Eid message said that it was a graceful day when Prophet Abraham (PBUH) was all set to sacrifice his son Hazrat Ismaiel (PBUH) to fulfill yet another command of his Lord after which he was made the Imam (leader) of the people. Abraham (PBUH) followed the path of righteousness and stood against the evil doers.
As we celebrate this great festival of sacrifice, Eid-ul-Adha, let us all be inspired by its significance and be selfless to humanity and our nation, as well as obedient to the Almighty Allah, as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim, alaihi salam. He said in the Prophetic teachings of Abraham there is a universal message of peace and prosperity and the Sunnah of Abraham has a great lesson for the oppressed people of the world. Eid Al-Adha is the most significant feast for Muslims worldwide, as it marks the end of the Hajj (pilgrimage) to the holy city of Mecca.
Ambassador at Large for Global Peace & Human Rights said the previous year, we are celebrating the Eid holidays as the entire world struggles against the global Covid-19 pandemic. Both Eid holidays that Muslims commemorate each year are celebrations blessed with an atmosphere of unity, kindness and kinship,we must give the utmost precedence to ensure that we priorities inclusivity and social harmony as we celebrate this holy day. He has charged all and sundry to take a cue from the significance of Eid-ul-Adha and show selflessness towards humanity. Imam Allama Muhammad Ahsan Siddiqui, Chairman, Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) said Eid-ul-Adha celebrations remind us to take care of our orphans, widows, physically disabled persons, prisoners and their families as well as the poor sections of society.
Speaking further regarding the Covid-19 pandemic and its effects on our nation, As we mark Eid Al-Adha this year, we are reminded of the thousands of people around the world who have lost lives and millions of people who lost their livelihoods on account of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and all those families battling challenges posed by this deadly infection. We remember our scientists, medical professionals, our doctors, our nurses and thank them for their immense contribution in protecting the lives of millions. I also pray for our children who are facing many challenges and not been able to go to schools for over a year now. On this occasion of Eid Al-Adha, we all resolve once again to collectively work towards facing this unprecedented challenge of Covid-19 pandemic and comprehensively defeating it.
In his message, the , Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH) Chairman also extended his greetings to all Muslims at Mecca for the Holy Pilgrimage, praying that their pilgrimages be accepted by Allah Almighty. He also extended warm sentiments to all kindred members of the Muslim Ummah on the joyous occasion of Eid al-Adha, happy eid to all of you. On this EID, along with the sacrifice of animals, sacrifice ego, stubbornness, misunderstanding and hypocrisy!
As we safely celebrate with family and loved ones, may our prayers be answered and our sacrifices be acceptable to Allah. May we be inspired by the sacrifice to give back to humanity, something that is bigger than ourselves. Above all, may Allah accept our prayers, heal our world and bless our homeland Pakistan.
