Sri Lanka’s Consul General Sanjeeva Pattiwila reaffirms strong friendship and cooperation with Pakistan
KARACHI: Sri Lanka has reaffirmed its longstanding friendship with Pakistan, with Consul General Sanjeeva Pattiwila extending warm greetings to the Pakistani government and people on the occasion of the country’s National Day.
In his message, Pattiwila said Sri Lanka Pakistan relations were built on mutual respect, trust, goodwill and strong people-to-people connections, describing the two countries as close and trusted partners in South Asia.
He expressed hopes for peace, prosperity, stability and continued progress for Pakistan, while emphasising Sri Lanka’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation.
According to the Consul General, relations between the two countries have developed into a broad partnership covering political and diplomatic engagement, trade and investment, defence and security, education, culture, tourism and sports.
He said Sri Lanka greatly valued Pakistan as a trusted friend and partner and highlighted the importance of continued defence cooperation, expanding economic ties, cultural exchanges and sporting links.
Pattiwila particularly pointed to cricket as a powerful connection between the two nations. The shared passion for the sport, he said, continues to strengthen people-to-people relations and bring Sri Lankans and Pakistanis closer together.
He also identified significant opportunities for further cooperation in trade, investment, tourism and business-to-business activity.
The Sri Lankan envoy said the friendship between the two countries had stood the test of time and was reflected not only during moments of celebration but also through mutual support and solidarity during difficult periods.

“Sri Lanka therefore reaffirms that Pakistan can always count on Sri Lanka as a true friend and trusted partner,” he said.
Pattiwila said Sri Lanka looked forward to further deepening the relationship as Pakistan celebrated its National Day, with both countries working together to promote peace, stability and prosperity across the region.
The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Karachi also conveyed its heartfelt wishes to the government and people of Pakistan, expressing hope for a peaceful, prosperous and successful future.
The message comes as Islamabad and Colombo continue to maintain close diplomatic and people-to-people relations, with opportunities for greater cooperation in economic activity, tourism, education, culture and regional engagement.
The Consul General concluded by reaffirming the enduring friendship between the two countries and extending National Day greetings to the people of Pakistan.
