ISPR Says 21 Militants Killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Operations

RAWALPINDI, September 6, 2026: Security forces killed 21 militants in multiple engagements across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa between September 3 and 5, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Sunday.
According to the military’s media wing, the operations took place in several districts, including North Waziristan, Kohat and Dera Ismail Khan.
ISPR said the militants belonged to what it described as Indian-sponsored Fitna-Al-Khwarij. The terminology reflects the military’s official characterisation of the group.
The latest operations followed an earlier engagement along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in North Waziristan on the night of August 31 and September 1.
Ten More Militants Reportedly Killed in North Waziristan
ISPR said security forces killed another 10 militants who had taken shelter in the area following the earlier border engagement.
The military said this brought the total number of militants attempting to infiltrate the country and subsequently killed by security forces to 25.
Security forces also detected the movement of another group along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in North Waziristan. Troops then engaged the group, according to ISPR.
As a result, seven militants were killed in what the military described as a precise and effective engagement.
Operations Reported in Kohat and Dera Ismail Khan
Four more militants were killed during two separate encounters in Kohat and Dera Ismail Khan, ISPR said.

The military did not provide further details about the identities of those killed or disclose whether security personnel suffered casualties in the latest engagements.
Meanwhile, security forces have launched sanitisation operations in the affected areas. ISPR said the operations aim to locate and eliminate any remaining militants.
ISPR Repeats Concerns Over Afghan Soil
ISPR said the latest incidents along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border reinforced Pakistan’s concerns about cross-border militancy.
The military accused the Afghan Taliban government of failing to prevent terrorist groups from using Afghan territory for attacks against Pakistan.
ISPR also alleged that Afghan authorities have failed to ensure effective border management and meet their international counter-terrorism obligations.
The statement comes amid continued security concerns along Pakistan’s western border.
Counter-Terrorism Operations to Continue
The Pakistan Army said its forces remain committed to defending the country’s borders.
ISPR said counter-terrorism operations would continue under Azm-e-Istehkam, a national security initiative approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan.
According to the military, security forces and law-enforcement agencies will maintain operations against what it described as foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism.
The latest engagements add to Pakistan’s ongoing counter-terrorism campaign in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in districts bordering Afghanistan.
ISPR said sanitisation operations are continuing to ensure that no other militants remain in the area.
