KARACHI: National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) has received official approval for the commercial launch of Raast Person-to-Merchant (P2M) Acquiring, marking a significant milestone in the bank’s digital transformation strategy and Pakistan’s growing push toward a cashless economy.

The approval enables NBP to formally roll out Raast P2M acquiring services for merchants, institutions, customers, and government entities, further strengthening digital payment infrastructure across the country.
To mark the achievement, a meeting was held between representatives of NBP’s Digital Banking Group and officials from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Digital Innovations & Settlement Department.
The meeting was attended by Muhammad Imaduddin, Director Digital Innovations & Settlement Department-SBP, Muhammad Hassan Memon, Assistant Director Digital Innovations & Settlement Department-SBP, Adnan Nasir, Chief Digital Officer and SEVP Digital Banking Group-NBP, and Zohaib Ali Khan, Divisional Head Acquiring & Payments-NBP.
NBP said the milestone reflects the continued support and strategic guidance provided by the State Bank of Pakistan and Raast Payments Pakistan in advancing the country’s digital financial ecosystem.
The approval also allows the bank to actively promote Raast P2M acquiring services through structured awareness initiatives, merchant onboarding programs, and nationwide media campaigns aimed at accelerating digital payment adoption.
According to the bank, the initiative will play a key role in expanding digital payment acceptance, particularly among underserved communities, small businesses, merchants, and institutional payment networks.
NBP reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with regulators, fintech partners, merchant communities, and business stakeholders to strengthen Pakistan’s digital economy and encourage secure, seamless, and inclusive financial transactions nationwide.
The launch of Raast P2M acquiring is expected to further support Pakistan’s vision of reducing cash dependency while promoting faster, more transparent, and accessible payment solutions for businesses and consumers alike.
