Mother’s Day Celebrated Worldwide to Honor Love, Sacrifice and Compassion of Mothers

The event brought together prominent figures from civil society, diplomacy, law, academia, and philanthropy, who paid tribute to the resilience, dignity, and sacrifices of the women living at Aghosh Home. The ceremony reflected a strong message of compassion, social responsibility, and care for society’s most vulnerable segments.

The programme began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Ms. Kainat, a visually impaired resident, whose soulful recitation created a spiritual and emotional atmosphere. The audience was further moved by a heartfelt Naat-e-Maqbool presented by another resident mother, setting a tone of reverence and reflection.

One of the most emotional moments of the event came when resident mothers shared personal stories of hardship, abandonment, and isolation, and how they found dignity, care, and a family-like environment at Aghosh Home. Their testimonies left many guests visibly emotional and underscored the urgent need for stronger social protection systems for elderly and abandoned women.

The ceremony was attended by several distinguished personalities including Barrister Shahida Jamil, Seema Mughal, Ambassador (R) Hasan Habib, Abdul Rauf Tabani, Dr. Nasaka, Zaigham Mahmood Rizvi, Brigadier (R) Karrar Hussain, Saim Junaid Malik, Ali Zeb, Ateeq Ur Rehman, Haji Masood Parekh, Mehvish Parekh, Jimmy Engineer, and Noman Ahmed, along with social workers and members of civil society.

Speaking on the occasion, guests lauded the services of Aghosh Home Trust and its President Ms. Shugafta Saba for dedicating their lives to caring for shelterless mothers and differently-abled orphan girls. Speakers described the institution as a “beacon of hope and humanity,” emphasizing the need for collective support from society, philanthropists, and corporate organizations.
