BankIslami’s aik enables digital payment facility at Islamabad International Airport

Karachi, February 24, 2026: aik by BankIslami has enabled fully digital payments across all passenger
touchpoints at Islamabad International Airport. Travelers and visitors can now complete transactions
without cash across the airport environment.
Merchants across the airport have been onboarded, and QR code deployments have been integrated at key
touchpoints. This will allow passengers and visitors to make secure, seamless, and Shariah-compliant
digital transactions at all counters, retail outlets, and service points.
The implementation complies with the regulations and framework set by the SBP and is a working model
for a large-scale adoption of cashless systems in public infrastructure.
The initiative was marked at an event at the Islamabad airport by officials of aik by BankIslami, the IIAP,
and the SBP.
Commenting on the occasion, Ashfaque Ahmed, Chief Officer at aik, said, “This deployment reflects our
commitment to building practical digital infrastructure that improves everyday transactions. By enabling a
fully cashless environment at a major national gateway, we are supporting efficiency, transparency, and
financial inclusion at scale. This is not only a project; it is a foundation for Pakistan’s cashless future.”
By digitizing IIAP, one of Pakistan’s key airports, aik by BankIslami continues to invest in secure and
accessible financial solutions that expand digital participation and support national economic
modernization.
