KARACHI, February 20, 2026 — Center for Guidance, Career Planning and Placement of Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology organized a seminar to observe a significant occasion—the International Day for the Prevention of Violent Extremism. The event served as a vital platform for dialogue and reflection on a pressing issue that affects us all. Sir Syed University organizes this program annually in accordance with directives from the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
The event featured the renowned religious scholars including Raheela Baqai, Director of Communications & Outreach at Lightstone Publishers; Acharya Manoj Chouhan, a renowned Hindu scholar and Founder & Chairman of the Sanatana Dharma Society Pakistan; Pastor Tariq Selvester from the Universal Church. Their presence underscored the importance of interfaith dialogue and collaboration in our shared mission to combat violent extremism.
Presenting vote of thanks, Registrar Cdre. (r) Sarfraz Ali, emphasized the necessity of unity in a world often marked by division. He noted that fostering understanding and respect among diverse faiths and cultures is imperative. Our collective strength can serve as a powerful means to prevent violent extremism. He also pointed out that academia has a vital role in shaping future leaders, and it is our responsibility to instill values of tolerance, empathy, and social responsibility in our students. By collaborating—educators, community leaders, and scholars—we can create a ripple effect that inspires meaningful change in society.
