ZIMBIA : A citizen jumped into the river to save his life from a herd of elephants, but there he became a victim of a crocodile. The proverb that fell from the sky and got stuck in a palm tree is famous. This is said when a person, while trying to escape from a trouble, gets caught in a bigger trouble. In one incident, a hunter who jumped into the river to escape from elephants became a victim of a crocodile. The incident occurred in the African country of Eastern Zambia, where a hunter from Nigeria ran away from a herd of elephants in the forest and jumped into a river. According to foreign media, 52-year-old Din Nirinda was returning from hunting with two of his friends when they suddenly encountered wild elephants. The elephants, seeing them, started moving towards them. Seeing this, the three frightened friends ran away from there in search of a safe place. However, Nirinda was so scared that he jumped into a rain gutter near the Luangwa River to avoid being crushed under the elephants’ feet. According to local police, as soon as Nirinda jumped into the river, a crocodile present there attacked her and bit her right leg. Police say that despite facing death, Nirinda did not give up and, to save herself, forced the crocodile to flee by hitting it with the sticks in her hand, after which it got out of the water itself. This dangerous scene was also witnessed by two hunters nearby. Seeing Nirinda coming out of the river in a seriously injured condition, they quickly reached the bank and picked him up and carried him to a safe place, but he could not survive due to excessive bleeding. It should be noted that there are large numbers of wild elephants in the forests of the said area and many people have been preyed upon by elephants in the past.
