Tetra Pak reinforces Sustainability commitment at SDPI’s 28th Annual Development Conference

Karachi, November 25, 2025 :  Tetra Pak Pakistan recently participated in the 28th Annual Sustainable Development Conference represented by Noor Aftab, Director Corporate Affairs Pakistan and MENA region and Muhammad Bin Shahzad, Sustainability Manager at Tetra Pak. The conference was titled “Sustainable Development in the Emerging World Dis|Order” and hosted by the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) in Islamabad.

The Expo served as a convergence point for governments, diplomats, development partners, and global institutions, including participation from IGES, UNESCAP, UNDP, UNOPS, and the South Asia Circular Economy Forum, along with senior representatives from Pakistan’s Federal Government, World Bank, IMF, IFC, DFID, UN bodies, South Asia Coalition for Improved Nutrition SACIN, and Path, as well as dignitaries from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Nairobi.

During the event, Tetra Pak officials participated in a high-impact plenary session on the topic of “Circular Economy and Food Systems Nexus: Transforming Pakistan’s Dairy Sector for a Sustainable Future”. Additionally, the company also engaged in fireside conversations on “Resilient Dairy Futures: Integrating Nutrition, Circularity & Climate Action” and “Redefining Responsibility: EPR, Recycling & the Future of Sustainable Packaging.” These sessions highlighted the need for collaborative action to strengthen the dairy value chain, enhance recycling systems, and promote low-carbon food production.

Tetra Pak officials also engaged with representatives of the Federal Government including Senator Musadik Masood Malik, Federal Minister for Climate Change; Mr. Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for PD&SI and Deputy Chairman Planning Commission; Finance Minister Mr. Muhammad Aurangzeb; and Dr. Mahir Binici, Country Head, IMF & Coordinator to the Prime Minister.
Tetra Pak was also honored with the Sustainability Award in the category of Sustainability Education & Community-Led Adaptation for its School Recycling Awareness Program, implemented in collaboration with WWF Pakistan. The recognition underscores the company’s long-standing commitment to driving environmental awareness and building a culture of responsible waste management among younger generations.

“At Tetra Pak, we believe that sustainability requires strong collaboration across governments, industry, and development partners,” said Awais Bin Nasim, Managing Director, Tetra Pak Pakistan. “Our participation at SDPI reflects our commitment to building a circular economy, transforming the dairy sector, and enabling climate-resilient food systems for Pakistan.”

Tetra Pak’s participation reinforced its commitment to advancing circularity, strengthening climate-resilient food systems, and supporting Pakistan’s transition toward a sustainable future.
