Karachi: A major step forward in the provision of Electric Vehicle Charging (EVC) infrastructure has been taken with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Malik Group of Companies and Fossil Energy & Petroleum. The signing ceremony, held in Karachi, was attended by Malik Khuda Baksh, Chairman of Malik Group of Companies, and Shehzad Mohsin, CEO of Fossil Energy, who formalized the agreement.
Under the terms of the MoU, Malik Group of Companies will install Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations at all Fossil Energy & Petroleum fuel stations across the country. This initiative aims to support the growing demand for EV infrastructure in Pakistan.
Speaking at the ceremony, Malik Khuda Baksh, Chairman & CEO of Malik Group, emphasized the urgent need for environmentally friendly transport solutions in Pakistan. He noted that just as electric vehicles are gaining traction in cities across the country, Karachi is also seeing an increase in the adoption of electric mobility. “It is projected that by 2030, the percentage of electric vehicles in Pakistan will exceed 30%,” he said.
He further shared that, in partnership with Chinese investors from ADM Group, they have already started installing EV charging equipment in Sindh, and the same will be extended to Fossil Energy’s network of fuel stations. “The signing of this MoU with Fossil Energy is an important step in our commitment to providing a greener future for Pakistan,” said Malik Khuda Baksh.
The event was also attended by senior executives from both companies, including Shehzad Mohsin, CEO of Fossil Energy, Hassan Abbas, General Manager, and Saleem Chamdia, Chairman of Clover Pakistan Ltd. On behalf of Malik Enterprises, Zahidullah Ghumman, Chief Operating Officer, and Zeeshan Hanif, General Manager, were present.
Shehzad Mohsin, CEO of Fossil Energy, expressed pride in collaborating with Malik Group, highlighting their shared vision of providing a comprehensive energy solution for consumers. “This partnership will offer a one-stop energy solution combining traditional fuels and EV charging infrastructure at Fossil Energy fuel stations. Together, we are laying the groundwork for a smarter, more sustainable, and energy-resilient Pakistan,” he said.
He also pointed out that both companies are in the early stages of developing their respective networks, but by combining their expertise in EV infrastructure and retail presence, they aim to create a strong foundation for reliable and accessible EV charging solutions nationwide.
