Karachi : The Royal Thai Consulate General in Karachi, in collaboration with Greenwich University, successfully organized Karachi’s International Student Friendly Six-a-Side Football Tournament 2025 on Thursday evening.
The event was supported by the Thai Students Association in Karachi (TSAK), the Pak-Thai Friendship Association & Business Forum, and the Thai Airways. It brought together student teams from Thailand, Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Nigeria, with players showcasing not only their sporting talent but also the spirit of friendship and cultural exchange.
The matches were kicked off by H.E. Mr. Surashete Boontinand, Consul General of Thailand in Karachi, who remarked:
“This tournament, jointly organized by the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Karachi and Greenwich University, is a testament to our shared belief in the power of sport to transcend borders. Events like this strengthen Thailand – Pakistan relations while inspiring the younger generation to carry forward the spirit of cooperation and mutual respect.”
After an exciting series of matches, Team Nigeria emerged as champions, while Team Indonesia claimed the position of first runner-up. Team Thailand B secured second runner-up, and the Fair Play Trophy was awarded to Greenwich University Red.
The event was graced by distinguished dignitaries, including Dr. Naveed Ahmed Mughal, Provost and President EDVIA, representing Greenwich University, the co-organizer of the tournament. Other esteemed guests included H.E. Mr. Herman Hadynata bin Ahmad, Consul General of Malaysia in Karachi, H.E. Mr. Dewanto Priyokusumo, Acting Consul General of Indonesia in Karachi, Dr. Noman Naeem, President of Binoria University, and Mr. Arif Suleman, Chairman of Pak-Thai Friendship Association & Business Forum.
Also present were Ms. Azua Binti Sulaili, Vice Consul of Malaysia in Karachi, Ms. Eesha Ali, Chief Diversity Officer, Greenwich University, and Dr. Sadia Sheikh, Director Sports at Greenwich University and Founder of DIYA Women FC.
The organizers emphasized that the tournament’s objective was to create a platform for cultural exchange, youth engagement, and people-to-people connectivity through sport.
The evening concluded with the presentation of trophies and medals to the winning teams, leaving players and guests alike inspired by the celebration of sportsmanship and friendship.
