Dera Bugti Balochistan – A significant humanitarian initiative unfolded in the districts of Dera Bugti and Jhal Magsi, Balochitan where a total of 196 wheelchairs were distributed to individuals with disabilities, as identified by PPHI and Social Welfare Department of the Government of Pakistan. This noble effort was spearheaded by the Dawood Global Foundation, with generous donation from the Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL). The events were facilitated by local authorities and organizations, and with the presence and endorsement of Chief Guests Mr. Ejaz Sarwar (Deputy Commissioner Dera Bugti) and Mr. Rehmatullah Shah Hashmi (Deputy Commissioner of Jhal Magsi).
The in person distribution ceremony in Dera Bugti were hosted by Deputy Commissioner, despite storms and floods that led to disaster relief efforts and the ceremony being split between two days. Each of the 140 recipients came from across the district to personally receive his or her wheelchair from the Chief Guest Mr. Ejaz Sarwar and Mr. Husnain Ahmed (Assistant Commissioner, Dera Bugti). A similar ceremony was held in Ghandawa, Jhal Magsi hosted by PPHI, where 56 handicapable individuals received wheelchairs from Chief Guest DC Rehmatullah Shah Hashmi. Both ceremonies were presided over by Mr. Muhammad Ali (Regional Coordinator, Dawood Global Foundation) and Mr. Muhammad Arshad (Senior CSR Officer of OGDCL), and in the presence of representatives from PPHI, the Social Welfare Department, local dignitaries, media representatives, and security personnel.
Tara Uzra Dawood, CEO of Dawood Global Foundation, reiterated her heartfelt commitment to the cause, stating, “We are honored to be a part of this meaningful initiative. Empowering individuals with disabilities through mobility aids is a step towards inclusivity and independence. We thank OGDCL for their generous donation and PPHI for their support in making this event a success.”
Mr. Ejaz Sarwar (Deputy Commissioner Dera Bugti) was happy to host the Dera Bugti Ceremony and facilitate the entire execution of these distributions in Balochistan. “We are very thankful for the commitment and dedication of Ms. Tara Uzra Dawood and Dawood Global Foundation and it is our duty to help ensure such noble gestures – such as this generous donation of wheelchairs they are doing in collaboration with OGDCL – reach the right recipients, with maximum safety and comfort.”
Mr. Rehmatullah Shah Hashmi emphasized the importance of such initiatives and expressed profound gratitude to OGDCL and Dawood Global Foundation for their invaluable contributions. “This distribution is a testament to our collective effort to support and uplift the differently-abled members of our community. We are grateful for the support from OGDCL and the tireless efforts of the Dawood Global Foundation and PPHI,” he stated.
Mr. Arshad from OGDCL, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to social responsibility and community development. “At OGDCL, we believe in giving back to the communities where we operate. This initiative is part of our ongoing efforts to support and empower individuals with disabilities,” he stated.
Mr. Muhammad Ali, Regional Coordinator, DGF, spoke about the foundation’s CEO, Ms. Tara Uzra Dawood, dream of distributing 10,000 wheelchairs to handicapable and hospitals throughout Pakistan, and praised the support of OGDCL, as well as DC Dera Bugti Dera Bugti Ejaz Sarwar, DC Jhal Magsi Rehmatullah Shah Hashmi, AC Dera Bugti Hasnain, and the PPHI team for their invaluable support. “The unwavering support and dedication of our partners have been crucial in the successful distribution of these wheelchairs. We are grateful for their commitment to community service,” he expressed.
AC Dera Bugti Husnain Ahmed lauded the collaborative efforts of OGDCL and Dawood Global Foundation. “This distribution of 140 wheelchairs in Dera Bugti is a testament to the dedication and generosity of OGDCL and Dawood Global Foundation.
