Pakistan and Iran Pledge to Enhance Cooperation, Aim for $10 Billion Trade Volume.

Islamabad: In a meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari and Iranian President Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, both countries reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen cooperation across various fields of mutual interest. Emphasizing the need to activate bilateral trade mechanisms, the leaders set a goal of increasing trade volume to $10 billion. They also discussed regional challenges and the importance of collaborative efforts to address them.

President Zardari expressed concern over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza, condemning Israel’s military actions and reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause. Both presidents called for intensified international efforts to end the suffering in Gaza and provide humanitarian assistance.

Highlighting the deep-rooted ties based on religion, culture, and history, President Zardari thanked President Raisi for being the first head of state to visit Pakistan after the general elections, underscoring the Iranian president’s commitment to strengthening ties.

President Raisi stressed the need to further enhance bilateral relations, particularly in economic, trade, and cultural spheres, citing the potential to increase bilateral trade significantly. He appreciated Pakistan’s consistent support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and their right to self-determination.

The meeting underscored the shared commitment of Pakistan and Iran to deepen their strategic partnership, fostering mutual prosperity and regional stability.
